Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Second FIFA Ballon d’Or

MIKE Comic 47 Magic FeetYesterday, the brilliant Real Madrid striker known for his Magic Feet enjoyed another magical moment in his storied career.

Cristiano Ronaldo won his second Ballon d’Or Trophy as the best FIFA player in the world for his incredible 2013 individual accomplishments on the soccer pitch.

Ronaldo edged out four time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich left back Franck Ribery to win his second Ballon d’Or.

Although Ronaldo found the back of the net 69 times in 59 games during 2013, his signature, or magical, moment occurred when he recorded a hat trick against a tough Swedish side to help his native Portugal qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

FIFA icon Pele presented the Golden Ball Trophy to Ronaldo who held back tears when receiving the coveted honor.

Though not known to be emotional, Ronaldo is infinitely more famous for his step-over move and ferociously powerful shots which earned him the nickname Magic Feet.

However, the dazzling Portuguese striker’s magical overall skill and toughness as a player reach far beyond his fantastic feet. He is a fan favorite boasting nearly 60 million Facebook friends and 20 million Twitter followers.

I also feature Ronaldo in one of my sports comic books as my #4 overall FIFA Favorite. Read more about the speedy Ronaldo and how he has brought fear into the hearts of opposing teams each time his Magic Feet have touched the ball during his career by clicking on blue cover below.

MIKE FIFA Comic CoverFIFA fans should expect to see a lot more of the dazzling Real Madrid striker not only in future La Liga matches, but also in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

In September 2013 Ronaldo signed a contract extension with Real Madrid through the 2018 season. He is now the highest paid soccer player in the world earning 21M euros (after taxes) per year.

As of this writing, the rugged Ronaldo has made 200 consecutive appearances for Real Madrid. The Portuguese striker also became the first player to score 50 goals in any one of the five big football leagues in 2013.

Magic Feet continues to dazzle fans and frustrate defenders. He’s done it not only with Real Madrid in La Liga, but also for his native Portugal in international play. He’s worn the captain’s band since he turned 22 years old. Ronaldo has played in two World Cups for Portugal and three European Championships, collecting 96 caps and scoring 36 times.

With no apparent weakness in his game, Cristiano Ronaldo is considered the complete soccer player. He’s always more than capable of scoring at any time against any opponent with his head or, in his case, his Magic Feet.

Congrats to this 2013 Ballon d’Or winner.
