Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson join a surreal squad of sharpshooters to comprise the most talented group of individuals to ever compete in the annual NBA All-Star Weekend three point shooting contest.
Move over Michael, Magic, Larry, Scottie and Patrick.
A new NBA Dream Team has emerged – kinda.
On February 14, 2015 a Valentine’s Day Massacre of the nylon nets in Brooklyn’s Barclay Center will occur.
This new Dream Team of NBA long range marksmen will be firing from well behind the 25 foot NBA three point line to determine who’s the deadliest in the league.
The winner is anybody’s guess because this year’s line up would make three-time champions Larry Bird and Craig Hodges proud.
Joining the Golden State Warriors’ Curry and Thompson in the mix are J.J. Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks and Wesley Matthews of the Portland Trailblazers.
All five sharpshooters are ranked in the top seven in the NBA this year and each is capable of tearing up the twine in two+ weeks.
Curious just how well each will shoot and if the 25 point record held by Hodges will be tested.
All five contestants are seeking their first Foot Locker Three Point Shooting crown. The San Antonio Spurs’ Marco Belinelli was last year’s winner and could be a last minute addition to the Dream team of Shooters lineup.
In the history of the contest, no player has ever recorded a perfect score of 30 and four have repeated as winners; namely, Jason Kapono, Jeff Hornacek, Peja Stojakovic and Mark Price.
Ironically, the 1997 winner is current Warriors head coach Steve Kerr who, advisedly, won’t be predicting his choice to win.
That’s because the former TNT announcer and six-time NBA champion recognizes the great back court that he coaches on his league best team which seems to effortlessly swim in its success because of the incredible shooting stellar guards – the Splash Brothers.
