What happens when destiny meets your hobby? Lots of FUN!

I loved sports ever since I was a little kid. Whether throwing a baseball at Trenton’s PAL league, stopping shots as a high school soccer goalie, or even playing hoops in college, I always had a ball in my hand. I can still hear my Mom’s voice screeching out, “Jimmy!!! Stop bouncing that ball in the kitchen!”

Well, I did eventually learn to keep the basketball out of the kitchen but I’m not sure I ever really grew up. I never lost my love for sports, my kiddish sense of humor, or, as I was later to realize, my unquenchable desire for adventure. So despite a long career in the computer industry, at a time when I should’ve been planning for retirement and our daughter’s college education, I decided instead to close my business and give rise to my creative side. Did I care that I couldn’t draw a lick and had absolutely no background in entertainment?

Since I had lots to say and often didn’t say it out loud, I figured I’d take my two passions – sports and humor – and develop them into something creatively and uniquely me. I’d design an alter-ego in the form of a witty talking microphone. Sounds nuts, doesn’t it? Lots of other people thought so, too, including my 92-year-old uncle who cranked, “Jimmy, I don’t understand what you do. You need to get off your a** and get a real job!”

I won’t bore you with the details of MIKE’s incredibly long and arduous gestation period. Giving birth to an elephant might’ve been quicker and easier. Instead, just let me introduce you to this glorious new baby . . .
